Getting hired as a Search engine optimization specialist (SEO) is not as easy as it appears. There is a reason why an SEO specialist in Egypt commands premium compensation. If you are interested in obtaining a position within the search marketing industry, or doing SEO in Egypt, you need to be able to pass a rigorous interview. Below are several questions one may encounter during such an interview.
1.) Are you Google Certified?
This is the first cut-off question you can expect. Nearly all accomplished SEO specialists need to have a strong understanding of paid search, in addition to natural search. Think of it this way, how can one optimization a website for high placement within Google, if they do not understand how Google’s revenue model works?
For example, if one owns a website about Cheese, they want to get as many cheese buyers to their website, as possible. However, attempting to optimize the website for the keyword phrase “Cheese” would be difficult, at best. More important, the search phrase “Cheese” would draw significant traffic.
However, the traffic would include both buyers and a significant number of non-buyers. Understanding which keyword phrases convert best, for advertisers will help to determine the best phrases for optimization.
2.) What keyword density should a target phrase be, within a given piece of content?
In some ways, this is a trick question. It will test to see how current the candidate with his optimization knowledge. Several years ago, SEO experts discovered a loop-hole within Google. They found that if they wrote their web content in a certain way, which it would list highly within the search engine results pages (SERPS).
More specifically, if the keyword phrase represented about 4% - 5% of all words, within the content, Google would optimize for that word. In the last 24 months, Google has picked up on this trick. Now, they will penalize web content that has keywords “stuffed” into it. They are algorithms can also read the keyword phrases, within the context of the content.
They can tell if the phrase has been forced into the article (whether or not it is relevant to the rest of the sentence). Currently, SEO experts recommend no more than 2% keyword density, for a given keyword phrase.
3.) How many keywords should one optimize, on a given page?
Having too many targeted keywords, on a given pages dilutes all the keywords. The optimal number is two to three. This assumes that each page has about 500 words of content. If it has more, there is a little more flexibility. If it has less, the SEO expert should aim for one or two keyword phrases.
however some of these questions are unlikely to be asked in an interview in Egypt (in my point of view) but they still are good questions to test techniques and tactics knowledge updates of the possible employee.
ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion couple of questions about Adwords (if the person is not certified)could also give you good indications about the person keywords targeting and relevancy understanding.
however thanks for sharing the questions and looking forward for your new post
